Like for so many others, everything changed for our team when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in mid-March, 2020. Each week, Pursuit President David Barry delivered a team message aimed to keep our staff connected, informed and committed to resiliency. This message was shared with the team on April 24, 2020.
Pursuit places are special — you won’t find exactly the same experiences in each corner of our world. The personality of our hotels, attractions and experiences are connected to the authenticity of each place.
With so much of the world starting to look the same, we remain committed to Honoring Place — connecting to the spirit and soul of our people and places. We like being different and grounded in what makes each Pursuit place unique. That uniqueness drives our sense of adventure, our curiosity, and our commitment to authentically local hospitality.
In each of our Pursuit places, we continue to be fully focused on what comes next. What’s the safest way to reopen? How will our behavior need to change? As physical distancing restrictions begin to ease in different places, we want to build on our authentically local hospitality and do what’s best for our staff and guests. Alaska, Montana and Iceland have announced some easing of restrictions and while we have a long way to go, it feels like the shift from hibernation has begun.
There is an art and a science to evolving our experiences for a post-pandemic world. The well-being of our communities and our team members continues to guide our decisions into the future.
Let’s keep the energy going and the compass pointed straight ahead. We’re taking the right steps forward, slowly and with care, and moving ahead together.
Stay well, stay safe, stay strong.
David Barry
President, Pursuit
